Magnetic Island is a small slice of  paradise situated only a short 20 minute passenger ferry ride or 45 minutes by the vehicle barge from Townsville , North Queensland. Full of interesting things to do, and wonderful places to see, more than half the island is designated National Park while it is also situated within the stunning Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area and Marine Park.
 The Island, affectionately known by the locals as "The Rock" or "Maggie", has a rich history, from early indigenous (Aboriginal) use to white settlement in the 1800s, and having seen WWII  service with the construction of  The Forts, a fascinating walking track, with an added bonus being the opportunity to see Koalas in their natural habitat!

Hosting a local population of just over 2,000 people, the Island is also a rich bounty of wildlife, teeming with natural wonders of land, bird and marine life, and there is definitely no shortage of colour or scenery to feast upon!With more than 20 beaches (some only accessible from the sea) you can choose your activities to suit. Whether you want to explore the many beautiful walking tracks across the island enjoying the wildlife and views, or take to the sea for a bit of a jet ski ride, snorkeling or scuba diving on the fringing reef or shipwrecks and gaze upon the turtles and exotic fish, it's all here for you.
 Our small studio is the perfect place from which to start your adventure situated as it is close to the Ferry Terminal, the barge ramp and the local bus depot (with services to Picnic Bay, Arcadia and Horseshoe Bay), it has every comfort that you could need, including air conditioning to cool down in the heat of the day. We are on hand to help you with our local knowledge and can advise you on what you can do and how to get the best from your holiday should you wish us to.

We would recommend that you embrace "Maggie Life" while you are here, enjoy the beauty and the Island life that captivates the locals. We have a thriving community of artists and musicians residing here which adds to the diversity and creativity that we all take pleasure in. A restaurant and bar scene, often with live music, is something that you should definitely take part in while staying here. We are "food lovers" ourselves and can point you in so many directions...
